Mile building trips are a great way to build up your experience before you head off on your own. They are also perfect for you if you don’t have family or friends who enjoy sailing. Ophelia, our friendly octopus, is here to tell you about the trip we are running from 5 – 12 May 2018.
You’ll sail to the Cyclades, one of the world’s most famous sailing areas. The distance covered will be about 350 nm, including at least one Yachtmaster qualifying passage of over 60 nm and one long overnight sail. New for this year is Plaka, a beautiful, unspoilt, fishing village, on the Eastern Coast of Peloponnese, where the yachts will sail in on their way back to base.
We’re taking two of our own yachts on the milebuilder, each with 4 cabins. These can be booked as singles or for two friends or a couple sharing. We’ll put on a third or fourth yacht if a lot of people want to come along.
Who Is This For?
The trip will suit anyone adventurous. It can get choppy in the Cyclades and there will be some long legs, so it’s not really suitable for complete beginners. There will be a smaller crew than on previous years, with 4 or 5 people plus the skipper/instructor. This will give you plenty of ‘hands on’ experience. It’s not possible to take a Day Skipper course on the milebuilder, but you can do Competent Crew or, if you have the necessary theoretical knowledge and previous experience, you can take a Coastal Skipper course. However, for most people, the point of a milebuilder is to gain experience and put into practice what they have learned, while visiting a new sailing area.
How Much Does It Cost?
The price is 1250 euro per person, with a 10% discount for two friends or a couple sharing a cabin. If you are a member of our Crew Club, because you’ve sailed with us before, the price is 1187 euro for a single cabin.
Contact us now to reserve your place. We already have four people booked and places are limited to get your name in as soon as possible. It will be great fun! Those who have been on previous mile-builders always tell us they are a holiday they will always remember – the trip of a lifetime with fun and laughter as well as lots of sailing.
