We specialise in private tuition for couples and for groups of friends. You can also take a family sailing course with us.
Private tuition means you don’t need to share a boat with people that you don’t know. Our instructors sleep on board the yacht as they are responsible for the safety of you and the vessel but they are experienced in intruding as little as possible on your privacy.
With a private course you can have more say as to the type of places you want to visit, whether you prefer peaceful bays or busy harbours. You can start the day whenever you want to (within reason!) and take your evening meal at whatever time you wish.
You can bring up to five people on a private RYA course. If you come with fewer people, you’ll receive more individual attention than would be possible on a group course. We always make sure students learn as much as they want; we don’t restrict ourselves to the syllabus if there is time to teach beyond it.
Here are the yachts we have available for private courses.
We have 4 4-cabin yachts:
Portokali (Beneteau Cyclades 43.4, built 2006)
Helena (Bavaria 45 Cruiser, built 2011)
Tebartz (Bavaria 46 Cruiser, built 2014)
Athina (Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 439, built 2015)
We also have 1 5-cabin yacht: Pepe (Oceanis 46.1, built 2021)
All these yachts are coded as an RYA vessel and are suitable for courses! We also have some charter yachts. Please find more info here.
We have five lovely yachts suitable for one or two couples or small families. Bazinga and Luise, two identical Bavaria 41 Cruisers of 2014, Panfilo, a 2008 Cyclades 39.3 and Greta, our 37 footer of 2015. Casper, a Dufour 412 Grand Large of 2018 can be used for charter.
The yachts that can be used for courses are: Luise and Panfilo.
These yachts are also available for bareboat charter so are ideal if you want to do an RYA course one week and then head off on your own for the following week.
We can run a private course for just one person but you’ll need someone on board to crew for you. We can provide one of our qualified staff as crew in addition to your instructor.
If you sail on Phoebe, our older Sun Odyssey 45.2, we can convert the two forward cabins into one large master cabin with its own en-suite toilet and shower, for your greater comfort.
To make the whole experience more relaxed we can arrange for an English-speaking taxi driver to meet your incoming flight at the airport and take you to the ferry port in an air-conditioned Mercedes.
We can supply an instructor to give you tuition, either on your own yacht or on any suitable boat that you have chartered, including catamarans.
If you have plenty of sailing experience but no certificate we can provide someone to sail with you for the first five days of your charter, taking you through the RYA Day Skipper syllabus. Once you have your certificate you can then continue your sailing holiday on your own. Your crew can take a Competent Crew course at the same time.
