You wish to complete your Day Skipper practical course but need your theory background first? This might be for you. To be able to gain the skills to skipper your own yacht confidently you will first need to learn the book basics. Despite what you may think, studying can be done in a fun way! In one of our classrooms, with one of our instructors, surrounded by other students and with sun rays during your break. What else to ask for? With a 4-day course to receive the RYA-approved knowledge you will then be able to enter our Day Skipper Course.
No minimum age. To further complete the Day Skipper practical you will need to be 16 and above.
People who do not like studying on their own.
Efficient way of learning the theory and become eligible to apply your new knowledge immediately if wanted.
Some practical experience is desirable but not mandatory.
This course will bring your knowledge of navigation up to the level required for Day Skipper. Day Skipper Shorebased is an official RYA course so there will be an examination and certificate at the end.
You will learn all the theory needed to skipper a yacht by day. This includes: basics seamanship, buoyage, safety, coastal navigation and pilotage, chartwork, electronic charts, position fixing, plotting a course to steer, weather forecasting, and meteorology tides, and collision regulations.
A 4-day course (32 hours of theory and an exam) in our classroom in Aegina. Your RYA course book and study materials will be provided.
An instructor teaching you all the materials and available for your questions.
Snacks, fruits, coffee/tea/water throughout the day.
Our shore-based course costs 850€ (see above for what is included). Your travel expenses to get to Aegina and accommodation are at your own expenses.
