Start Yachting is a short introduction to sailing for complete beginners. It’s a 2-day course with a relaxed schedule that will give you a taste of what yachting is about and whether you’d enjoy it. You’ll sail to another pretty port in the Saronic Gulf and spend the night on board, experiencing what it’s like to sleep in a yacht cabin. Children in particular love this. If you take the course during the summer months you’ll anchor for lunch each day and enjoy the freedom of being able to swim from your own yacht in the crystal clear blue water.
If you have never set foot on a sail boat and wishes to learn the basics on board.
No minimum age needed, just the will of discovering sailing!
You have always dream to be comfortable at sea on a cruising yacht and want to be able to know your way on board in a short amount of time!
You would like to grow further along the RYA courses but need a first experience.
By the end of the course you will have experienced steering a yacht, sail handling, rope work, using the anchor, and you’ll be aware of the main safety procedures on board.
You will learn enough knowledge to proceed to the Competent Crew course. This course would normally be 5 days but if you obtain your Start Yachting certificate you will be able to do it in 3 days or 2 weekends.
Your own yacht cabin on board (only to share with your partner if applicable) with all the necessary items for your comfort: bedding and linens, towels, pillows.
Your RYA course book and Logbook to keep track of all your progress and experiences.
If you succeed: your Start Yachting certificate.

All prices for practical courses include all yachts expenses, breakfast and lunch. All activities ashore and dinner are at your own expense. Your travel expenses to get to Aegina are not covered.
You desire more privacy? We offer private versions of all our courses! Depending on the season, the type of boats, and the number of days, from €3,700 up to €7,950, you can book a yacht for yourself and friends/family to enjoy your time in a more intimate setting while learning the skills you want to complete. A qualified instructor will stay on board at all time to ensure safety but our team is used to not disturb your privacy. You can contact us and ask for more info and/or select “private” when enquiring a course.
If you’re unsure about how much sailing you want to join in, it’s possible to book to take the Start Yachting course on one of our normal 5-day sailing trips, rather than Competent Crew. This may be suitable if it’s your partner who is really keen to take up yachting but you’d prefer to spend most of your time sunbathing, or if you have children who want to learn a little but not too much. We run this course on demand, normally over a weekend. Unfortunately we can usually only offer the 2-day course as a private course for groups or families, not for individuals.
