I was recently sent a newsletter by Rosy’s Little Village, a charming place to stay on the nearby island of Agistri. Several of our clients have spent a week there after sailing with us and loved it.
Rosy’s – see pictures on the left – has 14 double rooms and 2 family rooms, which have been built like a traditional Greek village. All the rooms have balcony and sea view.
If you are looking for a relaxing time on an unspoilt island close to Aegina this is the place for you.
We may even be able to arrange to taxi you there in our RIB!

The letter included a link to a video capturing the spirit of Holy Week here. The information accompanying it describes it:
Στο video ακούγεται ένα απόσπασμα απο τα Εγκώμια που ψάλλονται την Μεγάλη Παρασκευή κατα την περιφορά του επιταφίου. Η φωνή είναι της Γλυκερίας…..
A video that i made with pictures of Jesus and many monasteries in Greece… The song that you hear is a Christian Orthodox chant which is sung in the churches on the Good Friday. Τhis chant glorifies the death of Jesus Christ…… It is called “O Glyki Μou Ear” which means “Oh my sweet Lord”…
Greece is still a very traditional Christian Orthodox society and Holy Week is accompanied by great solemnity, followed by jubilation and celebration on Easter Sunday.
Easter Sunday is a big family occasion, spent feasting, dancing, and singing with roast lamb cooked on a spit and red eggs. It always reminds me somehow of an old-fashioned Scottish Hogmanay.
The greeting for the day is Christos Anesti “Christ is risen!” and the reply is Alithos Anesti “Yes, He is truly risen!”.

Easter falls on the same weekend for both Orthodox and Roman churches this year.
I wish you all a very happy and peaceful Easter
