Course Description

Set sail together as a family

Looking for a holiday that’s more than just relaxing by the pool? With our Family Sailing courses, you’ll explore the Greek islands, learn real sailing skills, and make unforgettable memories – all together as a family.

Children of all ages are welcome on board. Little ones can join in with fun, simple tasks, while teenagers from 16 and up have the chance to work towards their very own RYA certificate. Parents can learn at their own level too – from absolute beginner to building confidence and refreshing old skills.

But it’s not just about learning: there’s also plenty of time to swim in crystal-clear bays, explore harbours, and enjoy the Greek island life. Family sailing is about adventure and fun. Whether you’re raising future sailors or just looking for a holiday with a twist, this course turns time on the water into a shared experience you’ll never forget.

Details

Who is it for?

This course is perfect for families looking for a new kind of holiday that combines adventure, learning, and quality time together.

It’s ideal for families who want a hands-on but relaxed experience, wish to learn sailing skills in a family-friendly setting, try a new activity together, or work towards a Day Skipper certificate (for those 16+) while younger children can earn their Sailing Dolphin diploma.

There’s also plenty of time for swimming, sightseeing, and enjoying the scenery, making it a fun, safe, and engaging experience for the whole family.

What will you learn?

We follow the official RYA syllabus, so by the end of the week you’ll have tried your hand at:

  • Navigation and passage planning

  • Seamanship and boat handling, including Mediterranean mooring

  • Everything you need to feel confident on a yacht

If you want to take it further, you can even complete the Day Skipper course during your stay.

Kids are part of the crew from day one, taking the helm, helping with fenders, and joining in on fun deck tasks. Younger sailors get a Sailing Dolphin diploma, while teenagers 16+ can work towards their Day Skipper certificate and learn how to skipper a yacht in calm waters.

What is included?

You’ll have your own family yacht for the week, with everything you need for a comfortable stay: bedding, towels, and pillows. A qualified instructor will be on board to teach you sailing skills and keep everyone safe – while still giving you space to enjoy your holiday.

  • Life jackets for children (including fun colorful ones)

  • Optional safety netting for extra security

  • RYA logbook and coursebook

  • Certificate upon successful completion

  • Sailing Dolphin diploma for younger sailors

A day on board

A few days into your sailing adventure, you’re feeling right at home on the boat. Wake up in a cozy harbor and hop off onto a terrace for a coffee, while the kids play around the deck. Together with you instructor you plan the day: checking the weather, scouting bays for lunch, and choosing today’s destination.

After a relaxed start you cast off. The children help with the fenders, the instructor guides you through handling the lines and steering, and soon you’re confidently managing the boat yourself. When a gentle breeze fills the sails, you hoist them together, and the kids cheer as the boat glides across the water.

You anchor in a quiet bay for a lunch onboard: fresh salad, warm pita and tzatziki. Afterwards everyone jumps into the refreshing water to swim, snorkel, dive, or just relax in the sun.

Heading to the next harbor for the evening, the instructor shares sailing tips, teaches the kids knots, and there’s time for a SUP ride behind the boat. Back in the harbor you stroll the streets, grab an ice cream, and settle in for dinner at a Greek taverna with your feet in the sand.

“The best family holiday we’ve ever had! The kids didn’t want to get off the boat!”

Safety first

Our instructors sleep on board as they are responsible for your safety and the vessel – but they’ll also give you space, so the week feels like a family holiday as much as a course.

Safety always comes first. Children are expected to wear life jackets, follow simple rules on board, and respect the skipper’s instructions. Our instructors love teaching families, and while they are firm about safety, they also know how to make the learning process fun.
