A two-week holiday and learning how to sail at the same time? If this sounds great to you, you are in the right place. With our very popular option of a 12-day course, you will return to work refreshed and brandishing a handful of certificates of competence in your new skills. This package includes the content of our Competent Crew course, a theory weekend, and the content of our Day Skipper Practical course. This means that at the end of the course you will have the skills to skipper your own boat safely and confidently in calm waters. You will receive the best advice from on of our qualified instructors and also have time to enjoy the beautiful Greek weather, swim in blue waters, and discover local places.
In preparation for this course, you will need to do a short theory course to ensure that you understand some basics of navigation and seamanship. This can be done online before coming to Greece. We can give you more information about this Essential Navigation and Seamanship prep.
You wish to learn all the basics of sailing and quickly reach a level of ability to skipper a small yacht.
You are 16 years old and above.
You have completed your preparation of Essential Navigation and Seamanship theory.
If you already booked a private course with friends or family with us it’s also possible to book a full 12 days sailing, studying some theory each day, rather than over a weekend. You will still need to complete the online course before coming, unless you already have sufficient theoretical knowledge. This can be a better choice if you’ll have children with you. Please contact us if you are interested in this option.
In the first 5 days, you will follow the RYA Competent Crew course content which includes navigation basics, chartwork, safety on board, and by the end you will be able to act as assisting crew and gain confidence around on board. Then you will follow a study weekend session with more theory about navigation and seamanship to bring you to the next level. For this, you will stay ashore in a hotel, to comfortably study and recharge your batteries. Finally you will return on board on Sunday night to complete your RYA Day Skipper Practical course for another 5 days. You will put into practice everything you studies and learned and practice new skills including Med-mooring, boat-handling, practical pilotage and more.
Assessment is based on how well you have performed your practical and navigation tasks during your time on board. No final exam! If your instructor declare that you are competent and safe to take a small yacht out to sea in calm conditions, you will be complete the course.
Your own yacht cabin on board (only to share with your partner if applicable) with all the necessary items for your comfort: bedding and linens, towels, pillows.
Your RYA course book. You will receive a hard copy when arriving in Aegina. If you wishes to order an e-version early on, you can order one on the RYA webshop.
Your RYA Logbook to keep track of all your progress and experiences.
For the theory course you will get a course pack, your own set of navigation tools and a simulation chart-plotter.
If you succeed: the RYA Competent Crew certificate and the Day Skipper Practical photo-ID certificate, which can be used to charter a yacht in most areas of the world.

All prices for practical courses include all yachts expenses, breakfast and lunch. All activities ashore and dinner are at your own expense. Your travel expenses to get to Aegina are not covered.
During the theory weekend: we also include coffee, refreshment drinks and fruits during the classroom course. You will only need to book accommodation yourself for the Friday and Saturday night over the weekend between the two practical elements of this course.
You desire more privacy? We offer private versions of all our courses! Depending on the season, the type of boats, and the number of days, from €3,700 up to €7,950, you can book a yacht for yourself and friends/family to enjoy your time in a more intimate setting while learning the skills you want to complete. A qualified instructor will stay on board at all time to ensure safety but our team is used to not disturb your privacy.
