RYA Navigation & Day Skipper Practical Package

Course information

Duration:

7 days

Course Description

If you are already a competent crew member, this is a popular combination of courses to take your sailing to the next level.  We now offer an RYA Day Skipper Practical certificate that is valid worldwide, rather than only in non-tidal areas. You no longer need to take an additional course to sail in northern Europe, the USA, or other tidal areas, but the level of theory required is now higher to ensure that you are safe to do so. By the end of those 7 days of theory and practical mix, you will be able to skipper your own boat safely and confidently.

For who?

If you’re planning a flotilla holiday or bareboat charter holiday, this is the course for you. This course is for people who wishes to sail their own boat with their friends and family on board.

You want to combine learning theory on board and immediately putting into practice your new skills and enjoy the sun and blue waters.

What will you learn?

There are two elements to this package. When you book, we enrol you in the online RYA Essential Navigation & Seamanship course. This is an excellent short course that will introduce you to navigation & chart-work at your own pace. You’ll get a certificate upon successful completion, which normally takes 10 – 12 hours.

For seven full days at sea you are taught more theory on board. You can read here more information about the course content. We will focus on bringing you up to speed with everything you’ll need to know and apply for your practical course. At the same time you will practicing to obtain your Day Skipper Practical certificate. You will cover the skills to skipper confidently a small yacht by day. This intense course covers: navigation, passage planning, practical pilotage, seamanship and boat-handling, including ‘Med’-mooring.
